Community Christmas interviews begin this week.

This week in Mrs. Bridges’s 6th grade science classes, students did a “Lunar Lollipop” lab to replicate the phases of the moon.

Students in Mr. King’s 8th grade science classes worked on Amusement Park Ride Energy Projects recently. The project required them to create a new ride or use an existing ride that they were familiar with at the fair or an amusement park. They then put their energy concepts to work by identifying forms and types of energy employed within the ride. Students also wrote descriptions of the ride and a catchy phrase to lure riders to enjoy them. Finally, energy transformations were identified for their model.

Kudos to Ms. Serrian and her 6th Grade, Jazz, 7th Grade, 7th/8th Grade Combined, & 8th Grade Bands on an awesome Fall Band Concert Thursday night!
See the Facebook post for concert pics!

Congratulations to our amazing Teachers of the Year! We loved celebrating them and their families at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday night. OCES - Marianne Camacho OCMS - Kristin Byce OCHS - Jennifer Yauck
Thank you Drew Bearden and Sue Ann Blalock for the photos!

Some students in Mr. King’s 6th grade science classes recently worked on Solar System Planet Projects where they researched a planet and completed a poster that displayed some interesting facts, temperature of the planet, distance from the sun, and the composition of the planet. They also completed a scale-model of the solar system in their interactive notebooks that included facts for all of the planets.
Additionally, they created Planet Dioramas of their own new planets giving them a name and theme, their own information on location, planet composition, planet resources, and resources for energy for organisms that live there.
These are great, creative ways to learn about our solar system!
See the Facebook post for more examples!
