What is band?
Band is a connections class offered at OCMS for all grades. Students typically begin in 6th grade and take it each day as their first of two connections. Although most begin in 6th grade, students may always join late if they are willing to work hard to catch up! The band performs 3-4 concerts annually and they are located in the OCMS gym.

What instruments are offered?
The following instruments are taught in band class: Flute, Clarinet, Saxophone, Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba, and Percussion. 

Are there after school commitments? 
The only required after school commitments are the 3-4 concerts annually. However, 7th & 8th graders have the option to join the jazz band which meets after school on Wednesdays until 4:30pm. The jazz band’s performances are at the same concerts the students are already playing.

The 7th/8th Grade Select Ensemble attended the Georgia Music Educators' Association (GMEA) Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) where they received Excellent & Superior ratings!
