Academic Bowl for Middle Grades began as a competition in 1983. The team at OCMS competes in quiz bowl format (similar to Jeopardy and High Q) with questions from all subject areas: English/Literature, Math, Science, Social Studies/History/Geography, Art/Music, Physical Education/Sports/Health, Computer Science and Current Events. The competition and practice sessions inspire students to excel academically, boost self-confidence and self-esteem through high achievement, promote good citizenship, and stimulate a team and competitive spirit.

OCMS Academic Bowl participants meet every Monday from 3:30 to 4:30 in Mrs. Miller's room, 610.

The team is coached by Mrs. Miller and Dr. Galloway.

Regional Competitions are held in early December.
